About this poster

Ernst Morgenthaler was one of the most important figurative painters in Switzerland from the 1920s to the 1960s and was friends with artists such as Paul Klee and Cuno Amiet. His works reflect a subtle and sensitive approach and concentrate on subjects he encountered in his own daily life. He once said that he could only draw and create what he had seen or lived himself. This lovely poster promoted travel to the countryside by Swiss Federal Railways.
