General Terms and Conditions of Business

Guarantee of authenticity

Artifiche AG buys and sells vintage posters and original lithographs and guarantees the authenticity of the artworks and vouches for impeccable service and top quality.

 

1. Inquiries, Prices and Orders

Posters and lithographs up to CHF/EUR/USD 2,000 can be ordered and paid for online. You will receive an invoice including the shipping costs online. For deliveries in Switzerland the prices are charged in CHF plus 8.1 % VAT.

For works exceeding CHF/EUR/USD 2,000 the prices quoted are indicative. If the exact price is missing, please send us your request by e-mail.

 

2. Payment

Advance payment by bank transfer to our Swiss bank account, by credit card such as Visa, MasterCard or American Express, or with Twint or PayPal.

Cash payment against receipt is possible for in-gallery sales.

 

3. Terms of Delivery, Shipping dates and Right of Return

The posters and lithographs are dispatched to addresses in Switzerland and abroad in a sturdy cardboard tube within 3 to 5 days of receipt of your payment or bank confirmation. The shipping costs are at the expense of the buyer.

Artifiche AG cannot be held responsible for delays in shipment by the post office or delivery companies. Transport damages must be reported immediately or at the latest within 3 days. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you have the right to return the poster you purchased within 5 days of receipt in its original packaging for a refund of the sales price (purchase price minus the return costs, credit card fee and the Swiss VAT of 7.7 %).

 

4. Shipping Costs and Insurance

Prices for shipping depend on the destination; see list below. The prices include stable packaging, shipping costs (Swiss Post or similar) and insurance. All posters are insured by us until delivery.

  • Switzerland: CHF/EUR/USD 40 (packaging, shipping with Swiss Post, insurance)
  • Europe: CHF/EUR/USD 60 (packaging, shipping with Swiss Post, insurance)
  • Overseas: CHF/EUR/USD 100 (packaging, shipping with Swiss Post, insurance)

Shipping costs for posters over CHF/EUR/USD 1’000: Please contact us for special packaging and insurance.

Shipping costs for FedEx or your desired special courier are charged separately.

Special insurance is recommended for consignments and very valuable posters exceeding CHF 2,000. The costs are based on the prices of international shipping companies.

To ensure proper customs clearance, Artifiche AG will prepare the necessary customs documents together with the invoice.

 

5. Liability, Shipping and Insurance

All details and descriptions of the poster are published as accurately as possible and to the best of the Gallery’s knowledge and the Gallery cannot be held responsible for omissions, inaccuracies and errors in the condition report.

 

6. Customs Duties

In order to ensure proper customs clearance, Artifiche AG prepares all the usual documents required for customs. Customs duties and import taxes such as the VAT (value added tax payable in the country of destination) are collected by customs via the carrier and charged directly to the client. Artifiche AG is not responsible for any delays caused by customs controls.

Customs duties in the importing countries vary:

  • in Europe, the value added tax (VAT) is charged according to the customs regulations of the EU country in question;
  • in the United Kingdom, for example, the import tax for original artworks dating from 1973 or prior is 4% of the value;
  • in the United States of America no tax is imposed on imported works of art, although individual states may ask for a local state tax. All taxes are paid by the buyer.

 

7. Poster Description

The internationally valid codes listed below are used to describe the condition of the poster:

  • A+ / A / A- = good condition. Picture fully preserved. Creases and small tears, if present, are restricted to the margins.
  • B+ / B / A- = picture fully preserved. Creases and tears possible.
  • C = restored

 

8. Restorations

The original posters are mounted and restored using reversible techniques and the best materials, either with thin acid-free Japan paper or acid-free soft linen.

 

9. Poster size

The size is indicated in centimetres and inches, width x height, with an accuracy of +/- 1.5 cm (0.5 inches).

 

10. Printing techniques

The Artifiche website uses the following terms to describe the printing technique:

a) Colour lithography or lithography
b) Stone lithography (lithography on limestone)
c) Colour offset
d) Heliography
e) Screen printing
f) Serigraphy
g) Litho-Offset
h) Rotogravure printing
i) OR = original draft, original sketch, gouache
j) Reprint – Reproduction

If the technique cannot be determined, it may be described as “other technique”.

 

11. Photographs of Posters and Artwork on the Website

The size, quality, colour and definition of the artworks published by Artifiche AG on its website may differ depending on screen settings, software or other factors.

We are happy to supply you with photos with high resolution by e-mail, together with a detailed description of the poster’s condition.

 

12. E-mails, Newsletter and Privacy Policy

Every online buyer is asked to provide his or her e-mail address to enable us to complete the purchase transaction and ensure that we can track the delivery to its final destination.

All personal information is treated with strict confidentiality and will only be disclosed to those third parties mentioned in the privacy policy.

At the time of purchase, the buyer agrees to receive our newsletter. The buyer can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time after completion of the purchase with a simple click.

 

13.Governing Law

All transactions are subject to these terms and conditions and imply their enforcement. The legal domicile is Zurich, Switzerland.
