About this poster

In 1956, Swissair continued to acquire new aircrafts like the Convair 340 Metropolitans, the DC-7Cs Seven Seas and the jet plane DC-8s. Two of the most outstanding posters were created in 1956 by the Bernese designer Kurth Wirth; they have become most collectible: in an exceptionally realistic and monumentally stylished design on blue background, Wirth paid much attention to details showing the aircrafts from various angles. Kurt Wirth received the "Poster of the Year" award for the impressive poster showing the front view of the Metropolitan - here in its first year of operation.
