About this poster

Richard Lindner (1901-1978) was an American artist, advertiser and painter of German origin. In his works, Lindner made use of the grotesque-caricaturistic elements of the New Objectivity of the 1920s and combined them with the dazzlingly bright colours of American advertising art. Lindner's alienated figures in dazzling colours are an expression of the absurdity of human existence. The Lucerne graphic artist Paul Brühwiler created the poster for the Richard Lindner exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zürich in 1974.
