Paul Brühwiler

Paul BRÜHWILER (pabru) was born in 1939 in Lucerne, where he lives now. He completed a traineeship as a graphic designer in Lucerne and trained for 5 years with Création Hollenstein and Edition Condé Nast in Paris. Between 1965 and 1973, he worked with various art studios in Los Angeles (Ray and Charles Eames, Carson/Roberts ad agency). In 1969, he opened his own studio in LA but returned to Switzerland in 1973, where he started working as freelance graphic designer for the Swiss Tourist Office, Swissair and many cultural institutions of the city of Zurich.
From 1981 to 1982, Brühwiler worked as graphic designer for Swiss television and from 1983 to 1985, he was a teacher at the Zurich School of Arts and Crafts. In 1985, he started lecturing on visual communication at the School of Applied Arts in Lucerne. Paul Brühwiler has received various awards from many museums such as the MOMA and has been very successful in the USA, France and Switzerland.
