Woody Shaw, actually Woody Brown, Jr. (1944 - 1989) was an American jazz trumpeter for whom Dizzy Gillespie, Fats Navarro, Miles Davis, among others, were important. In 1963 he worked together with Chick Corea. For Woody Shaw's jazz concert in Willisau in 1982, Niklaus Troxler designed the effective announcement poster.

He was trained in typography and graphic design at the art school in Lucerne; from 1967 to 1971 he worked as an art director in Paris; in 1973 he opened his studio for graphic design in Willisau, where he mainly works for cultural and music events, like the Willisau Jazz Festival, which he founded.
