This rare original poster from 1913 drew attention to a major event in Zurich's shopping world: the Grieder & Co. silk house, already known as ‘Seiden-Grieder’, opened in 1889 and moved into the newly built ‘Peterhof’ on Paradeplatz. A rare and exquisite testimony to the history of the city of Zurich by one of the most important Swiss poster designers of his time, Burkhard Mangold. With the move from the Grieder building on Paradeplatz to the new premises on Bahnhofstrasse and the change of name to Bongénie, the fashion group will open a flagship store at the best address in Zurich in February 2025.

Burkhard Mangold was born in 1873 in Basel, where he died in 1950. From 1889 to 1894 he served an apprenticeship as an ornamental painter and attended courses at the “Gewerbeschule” in Basel. He went to Paris in 1894 and studied in Munich until 1900. There, he had a studio for decorative art.
