This original poster from 1913 announced a major event in Zurich's shopping world: the Grieder & Co. silk and fashion company, founded in 1889 and already known as "Seiden-Grieder", was about to move into the newly built "Peterhof" building on Paradeplatz. A rare and exquisite document of Zurich history by one of the most important Swiss poster designers of his time, Burkhard Mangold.

Burkhard Mangold was born in 1873 in Basel, where he died in 1950. From 1889 to 1894 he served an apprenticeship as an ornamental painter and attended courses at the “Gewerbeschule” in Basel. He went to Paris in 1894 and studied in Munich until 1900. There, he had a studio for decorative art.
