About this poster
This 1939 poster for Bell was one of Leupin’s first big commissions as well as his first great success as a poster artist. It shows a trompe-l’oeil wooden cutting board with the Bell logo on its handle, arranged with an assortment of appetizing cold cuts. The poster caused a sensation, and there was such a demand for the fictitious “Bell”-branded cutting board that the company was compelled to have real ones manufactured. The success of this poster marked the beginning of Leupin’s long career as a poster designer.
