SINALCO Limonade, CH

In 1902, the German naturopath Friedrich Eduard Bilz developed a natural beverage made of exotic and domestic fruits called “Bilz-Brause” (Bilz’ fizzy drink). An advertising campaign launched that year was successful in establishing it as the first international, non-alcoholic beverage brand from Europe. The unique name, bottle and recipe were copied by other companies. A competition was held to create a new name for the yellow soft drink, and so Sinalco (which stands for “non-alcoholic”) was registered as a trademark in 1907. From 1937 the red dot with the slanted lettering was used as a logo. In the 50s the specially shaped Sinalco bottle was introduced. Today Sinalco belongs to the German beverage manufacturer Hövelmann and is exported to more than 50 countries, mainly in the German-speaking regions.
