About this poster
In the early 20th century, Italy was a popular holiday destination for wealthy travellers, especially the regions around the lakes of Como, Garda and Maggiore. The posters not only show the lovely landscape but also provide timetable information for the boat companies, like on this original 1909 poster lithograph by Ettore Ximenes for the Lago Maggiore. It shows a romantic view of the ruined Castelli di Cannero castles.
