About this poster
This iconic stone lithograph by the Swiss master of poster art Emil Cardinaux is a highly effective piece of Jugendstil advertising for the Jungfrau railway. In the foreground lies the “Eismeer”, or sea of ice, where a party of mountaineers make their way between the huge columns of glacier ice. In the background lies the majestic Schreckhorn mountain, and the whole scene is bathed in the dim, bluish light of early dawn. A true rarity not just for poster lovers and Cardinaux collectors.
