About this poster
This magnificent poster - detailed like a watercolour - from 1928 by Emil Cardinaux for the Jungfrau Railway shows a group of people or a group of tourists walking on the summit of the Jungfrau Glacier, overlooking the majestic landscape spread out before them and displaying a huge Swiss flag. The Jungfrau Railway, which climbs the Jungfraujoch in the Bernese Alps, was started in 1898 and completed in 1912. It reaches a height of 11,330 feet, making it the highest point in Europe that can be reached by train, and is rightly called "Top of Europe".
