In the 22-hectare nature park, the Giessbach Forest, lies this oasis of tranquillity, away from the hustle and bustle, everyday life and traffic, is the Grandhotel Giessbach. In the fairytale forest with majestic trees with unique vegetation and the rushing waterfall above the 30km2 Lake Brienz. The colourful design by Erica von Kager from 1930 and the rare colour lithograph show the Grandhotel Giessbach with a view of the waterfall and Lake Brienz.

Erica von Kager was born in Zurich in 1890 and died in Bolzano, Italy in 1978. From 1906 to 1908 she studied at the Basel School of Design; in 1908 she attended Académie Julian in Paris. From 1909 to 1912 she studied in Munich and went on study trips to Italy and Vienna. From 1913 she lived in Switzerland and in 1935 she moved to New York.
