About this poster
This original poster from the early 20th century shows an early glider with propeller in the evening light over Lake Zurich. In the city skyline below, the Tonhalle, built in 1895 and demolished in 1939, the Fraumünster, St. Peter's Church and the Grossmünster are clearly recognisable from left to right. In the pioneering years of aviation, the Ad Astra cigarette brand, of which little is known today, evidently relied on the association of progress with aeroplanes - in keeping with the brand name: They wanted to reach for the stars!
