Virginia – Le Pélican Cigarettes
Artist: Ch. Yray
Year: 1928
Size: 82 x 62 cm / 32.3 x 24.4″
About this poster
A bird with a stretchy gular pouch enjoying a smoke break? Why not. Especially if the cigarette in question is named after the pelican in question. What counts in advertising is to get the attention with little effort. However, the most interesting thing about the design - aside from how exactly a totipalmate bird could even manage to light a cigarette - is the use of shadows that rotates out of sight.
