About this poster

As a commercial artist and exhibition designer, Werner Weiskönig created numerous tourism posters and posters for public life, many of them for the city and canton of St. Gallen. Weiskönig was also involved in the creation of the Swiss school murals and decorated several school buildings with murals or glass windows. The original poster for the 1951 Swiss National Costume Festival in Lucerne shows a Swiss woman in traditional costume in Weiskönig's picturesque style.

From 1924 to 1927 he studied applied arts in St. Gallen before continuing his studies from 1930 to 1931 at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf.
