About this poster

The second Olympic winter games in St. Moritz were the first winter games which were not carried out in the same context as the summer games. The official poster was designed by Hugo Laubi in 1928 and shows the Swiss and the Olympic flag before the snowy Engadine mountains. The clear distribution and harmony of the graphic elements make this image into such a clear advertising message. The Zurich-born Laubi was known as a painter, graphic designer and lithographer of commercial posters and created memorable designs for tourist resorts such as St. Moritz and Arosa. In Zurich, Hugo Laubi is remembered especially for his famous 1920s poster for the Odeon Café which shows a man reading a newspaper. This is a later offset reprint of the original from 1928.
