Le Corbusier

The architect, designer and painter Le Corbusier is considered to be the founder of modern architecture. The man representing the Swiss ten-note note was born in 1887 as Charles-Edouard Jeanneret in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, later taking the name of his grandfather Le Corbusier. After his education he moved to France and became a French citizen. Le Corbusier fundamentally renewed architecture: for him it had to be functional, puristic, functional and economical. He also applied this basic attitude to furniture design, sculptures, paintings and graphics. By the time he died in 1965, he was considered one of the most important pioneers of avant-garde architecture and one of the most important architects of the 20th century.
