Max Hegetschweiler

Born in Zurich in 1902, the painter, draughtsman, illustrator and designer Max Hegetschweiler created various posters for the Swiss Federal Railways and the Swiss Alpine Postal Motor Coaches.
Hegetschweiler attended primary school in southern France, secondary school in Zurich and Kaltbrunn/SG, commercial school in Neuchâtel and, from 1920-23, graphics class at the Zurich School of Applied Arts.
He was self-taught as a painter. From 1924 to 25 he stayed in Paris and from 1926 to 1930 in the south of France and worked as a commercial artist. After another stay in Paris, he moved to Zurich in 1940, but stayed in France and Spain for long periods until his death in 1995.
