About this poster
This roughly-hewn blower provides ideal iconography for an exhibition at Zurich's Kunstgewerbemuseum celebrating the Swiss glass industry. Not only does Kammueller render him with industrial muscularity, the artist cleverly spreads the lithographic heat from his molten glass ball around, providing both a border and encompassing intensity. When World War I broke out, Kammueller moved from Baden-Baden to Basel, Switzerland, and accepted a teaching post; he thereafter became a Swiss citizen.
