About this poster
This is a reprint of the iconic Matterhorn poster. The avant-garde poster for Zermatt featuring the famous Matterhorn mountain was designed by the painter Emil Cardinaux in 1908, inspired by the visually powerful work of Ferdinand Hodler. Cardinaux’s monumental image of the Matterhorn is often considered to be the first truly modern travel poster. The view of the Matterhorn in the delicate colours of the “Alpenglow” became universally loved by the Swiss and tourists alike as a symbol of the country's natural beauty. Artifiche offers a limited edition of later prints as colour lithographs of the highest print quality.
