About this poster
In 1934, this poster advertised what would become the last Klausen race. Using streaks of colour and extreme foreshortening of the race car, the graphic designer Ernst Schönholzer created an impression of very high speed. The strong diagonal lines and the strictly geometric triangular shapes of the mountains underscore the Klausen race’s reputation as the most difficult and dangerous Alpine race in Europe. The 1934 race was won by the German Rudolf Caracciola in a Mercedes Benz W25.
