The area of Sainte-Croix and Les Rasses above Yverdon is called the "Balcon du Jura". Visitors feel as if they are on a viewing balcony on the approximately 1100-metre high plain at the southern foot of the Chasseron, with a view across Lake Neuchâtel and the Mittelland to countless peaks from the Säntis to Mont Blanc. The original poster by Edouard Elzingre from 1907 is considered one of the oldest winter sports posters ever.

Edouard Elzingre was born in Neuchâtel in 1880, attended the school of applied arts in La Chaux-de-Fonds and became a student of Charles L’Eplattenier. From 1899 to 1903 he attended the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris and subsequently worked as an illustrator for Parisian publishing houses.
