About this poster

Born in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in 1881, Erich Hermes lived and died in Geneva in 1971 as Eric Hermès. His poster compositions are characterised by elegance and contrasting human figures. His works were influenced by Ferdinand Hodler and various art styles from Art Nouveau to New Objectivity. Eric Hermès designed only a few posters; these are among the most beautiful Swiss posters ever. One of them is this perfect and rare stone lithograph "Winter in Switzerland" from 1938 to promote Swiss winter sports.
