About this poster
The Italian-born artist Leonetto Cappiello had a very creative mind. This poster for Vermouth Martini shows a youth descending from a bright beam of light, almost like Apollo, carrying two bottles of vermouth. The original poster was designed at the beginning of the 20th century for the Italian Martini vermouth, one of the many brands distilled by the MARTINI & ROSSI company founded in Turin in 1863. This is the later print from the 1960s.

Leonetto Cappiello was born in 1875 in Livorno, Italy and died in 1942 in Cannes, France. In 1898 he moved to Paris and became known through his caricatures of famous artists of the time, such as Yvette Guilbert.
