Ferrochina Bisleri is a bitter liqueur based on iron citrate and cinchona bark. The pharmacist Felice Bisleri launched his product Ferrochina on the Italian and international market in 1881 and promoted it for its tonic and healthy properties. It is traditionally drunk as an aperitif. Gino Boccasile's poster design with the globe is a direct visual translation of the slogan ‘The whole world drinks Ferrochina Bisleri’.

Gino Boccasile was trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari and his early work was published in local magazines. As a young man, he worked in Paris and Argentina before returning to Italy where he settled down in Milan.
