Many a cigarette brand was created before and during the Second World War because of the shortage of imported tobacco in Switzerland. This cigarette brand was produced at the Manufacture de Cigarettes Cortaillod and was sold and smoked mainly in western Switzerland. Like many Swiss cigarette brands, “Texas” no longer exists. The creator, Georges Froidevaux, was a painter and designed very few posters.

Georges Froidevaux spent the last 20 years of his life in Le-Bas-Monsieur near La-Chaux-de-Fonds, where he died in 1968. He was a painter and graphic designer, was married to a Spanish woman and had five children.
