With its idiosyncratic slogan "Swiss Alps Calling", this is a well-known 1930s photomontage poster to promote "Holidays in the Swiss Alps". The three climbers as a rope team symbolise the importance of using professional mountain guides and the threatening nature of the Swiss Alps. The design of this photomontage by Hans Aeschbach dates from 1936 and was revised in 1951. The subject is a contemporary document not only because of the printing technique, but also because of the magnificent winter mountain world and the rope team in the background.

Hans AESCHBACH studied graphic design at the Zurich Kunstgewerbeschule from 1927 to 1931, then lived in Paris until 1934 and returned to Zurich to work as a free-lance graphic designer.
