In 1951, when Swissair acquired the DC-6B for their long-long flights, various graphid designers started to create a number of posters using flat tones and stron colours to achieve a high advertising awareness for Swissair. An example is this lithograph by Fritz Buhler from the late 1950s.

Fritz Bühler was born to a Basel printer’s family in 1909 and died in a tragic accident in Colmar, France in 1963. He studied at art schools in Basel, Berlin and Paris and got his first job at the age of twenty as a graphic designer for Publicitas AG.
