About this poster

Alfred Hofkunst (1942-2003) was born in Vienna and his family moved to Zurich in 1948. Artist, typographer and painter, Hofkunst - who was a close friend of Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint-Phalle - caused a great sensation with his poster design for Swatch watches in 1988. The “Swatch Verduhra” (Vegetable Watches) series was originally exhibited in a museum in Lausanne and later at various art museums across Switzerland.

He did an apprenticeship as a typesetter and a scene painter and then he worked for a short while as a set designer for a theatre in Bern.
