About this poster
Alfred Hofkunst (1942-2003) was born in Vienna and his family moved to Zurich in 1948. Artist, typographer and painter, Hofkunst - who was a close friend of Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint-Phalle - caused a great sensation with his poster design for Swatch watches in 1988. The “Swatch Verduhra” (Vegetable Watches) series was originally exhibited in a museum in Lausanne and later at various art museums across Switzerland.

Photorealist artist Alfred Hofkunst was born in 1942 in Vienna and died in 2003 in Switzerland, where he spent almost all his life. He did an apprenticeship as a typesetter and a scene painter and then he worked for a short while as a set designer for a theatre in Bern.
