In a style influenced by Ferdinand Hodler with strong colours and clear contours, Wilhelm Burger masterfully conveys the majestic stillness of the Engadine mountain landscape. A rarity from 1912.

Wilhelm Friedrich Burger was born in Zurich in 1882. He apprenticed as a lithographer and then studied at the Zurich school of arts and crafts and at the academy in Karlsruhe.
