About this poster
The smiling woman waxing her skis in this lovely 1936 photomontage by Walter Herdeg captures the fun atmosphere of St. Moritz. The clear blue sky, the brightly shining sun and the intensive lighting and colour scheme almost make you feel the crisp, sunny mountain air on your face. The sun with rays is a recurring feature in Herdeg’s posters for St. Moritz, and it kept being used as the logo for St. Moritz and was even registered as a trademark with the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property, making it the earliest application of corporate identity to a tourist destination.
