About this poster
The Scholl stationery and art supply shop in Zurich became famous when Winston Churchill paid a visit in 1946. He had come to Zurich to give his historic “Let Europe Arise” speech. This rare, striking poster advertisement for the Scholl company appeared the same year.

Rolf BANGERTER was born in 1922 in Aarau, lived in Zurich and studied lithography, graphic design and copywriting. He founded one of the first advertising agencies in Switzerland in 1966. The agency became well-known for Bangerter’s advertisements for national and international companies such as Philips, BP, Sharp and various food and beverage producers.
