In 1954, Leupin created his favourite poster, the humorous and unexpected cigar-smoking horse to advertise the “Rössli” cigars produced by Burger Söhne AG in Brugg. Animal rights activists at the time were furious, but the image idea is unmistakable and remains unrivalled in its uniqueness to this day.

Herbert LEUPIN was born in Beinwil am See in 1916. He lived in Basel and later in his life he moved to the Italian part of Switzerland, where he died in 1999.
