The Florence Manufacturing Company was founded in Massachusetts in 1866 and produced various brush products. It was renamed in 1924 to the Pro-Phy-Lac-Tic Brush Company, after its most successful product. The Pro-Phy-Lac-Tic Brush Company was reported as the largest producer of toothbrushes in the United States in 1924.

Max Dalang was one of the first professional advertising consultants in Switzerland and owned the largest advertising agency after the First World War. He set a professional standard, trained many of his later advertising colleagues at his agency and was the leading founder of the “Schweizer Reklameverband” (the predecessor of Swiss Advertising SA).
