In 1955, the opera Porgy and Bess was performed in Zurich's Hallenstadion. The graphic artist Heinrich Steiner designed this lively poster for the 1935 opera by George Gershwin, which focuses on the lives of African Americans in the black settlement of Catfish Row in Charleston around 1870.
