About this poster

In the 1940’s,Donals Brun designed his famous Persil-Gritli“ poster. He had a close working relationship with the German laundry company Henkel also based in Basle. Some of these Persil vintage posters are quite creative and have some relation to fashion. His young red-headed housewife „Gritli“ posters mostly had a certain gentle humble humor and admirable style. Ater WWII Brun’s poster design was the beginning of a new style: Brun would introduce an imaginary character into the advertisement, which, after a while, became the firm’s emblem which was also the case with Henkel’s Persil detergents.
