About this poster
Designed in the typical painterly style of Alois Carigiet, this vintage poster is one the artist’s most beautiful poster works. It advertised the winter resorts in the Grisons in the 1940s and the design was meant to symbolise the “inner strength” that a winter trip to the mountains gives to holidaymakers. A perfect stone lithograph from the Wolfsberg printing company.

The graphic designer, painter and illustrator Alois Carigiet was born in Trun (Grisons) in 1902 and came to Chur with his family in 1911. After finishing an apprenticeship as a stage painter in Chur, he went to work for a renowned graphic design studio in Zurich from 1923 to 1927.
