About this poster
This piece is an original vintage poster by Eduard Stiefel - a poster artist who brought much painterliness to lithography and who was an accomplished landscape and portrait painter, muralist, stage decorator and book illustrator. This is one of the finest art deco posters still existing of Klosters which are now extremely rare. The artist makes the image a truly interesting art piece by putting the blue shirted tennis player in the foreground. This „distraction“ separates the image from just a landscape by bringing extra colour and active energy into the poster. On most Swiss tourism posters, one can see how the focus is not just on the beauty of the landscape but actually a lot more on the activities which the vacationers can participate in. In this case the main focus is on tennis, a fine and luxurious summer activty, underlining the beauty and richness of the resort in Klosters, surrounded with a magnificent landscape.
