About this poster

The Willem Breuker Kollektief was an Amsterdam jazz formation with ten musicians, founded by Breuker in 1974 and led until his death in 2010. The group did not only play serious music, but rather combined modern jazz and improvisational skills with classical music with a pinch of self-irony. The colourful, almost theatrical poster by Niklaus Troxler for his Willisau Jazz Festival of 1990 is entirely in keeping with the musical style of Breuker.
