About this poster

James "Blood" Ulmer (*1942) is an American jazz and blues guitarist. Like Ornette Coleman and Ronald Shannon Jackson, he has been at the centre of a new fusion of free jazz and jazz rock free funk since the late 1970s. Ulmer, who learned his first guitar chords from his father at the age of four, developed an independent style of playing with a brittle sound and strong recognition value. He builds on electric blues with its distortion effects and warped tones, occasionally crossing the boundaries of tonality. The silkscreen poster for the jazz concert, organised and promoted by Niklaus Troxler in Willisau, is available in perfect condition.
