About this poster
Otto Baumberger had a great ability to communicate strong, clear visual messages. Looking at this very rare poster from the late 1930s, we can almost hear the motors of the approaching aeroplanes. This vintage poster was commissioned by the Zurich commercial museum (founded in 1875, today the Museum of Design Zurich) in 1937. There are offset reproductions of this poster from 1981, but this stone lithograph is the original French language version.

Otto Baumberger was born in Zurich in 1889. He served an apprenticeship as a lithographer and took courses at the Zurich Art School (Kunstgewerbeschule) from 1905 to 1907.
