About this poster
In 1930, the first Glacier Express started in Zermatt with 70 invited guests on board and reached St. Moritz after eleven hours. Today, this train crosses 291 bridges and 91 tunnels or the 2033 metre-high Oberalp pass in about eight hours and travels through the cantons of Grisons, Uri and Valais. With its abstract design, this original poster shows the steep ascent of the “world’s slowest express train” before a majestic mountain backdrop. This colour lithograph from the 1920s is a Swiss icon and a rarity.
