The Alsatian painter Charles-Lucien Blumer comes from a Francophile family and worked to reinforce the unique identity of Alsace in the face of increasing Germanization at the turn of the 20th century. Trained as an impressionist and watercolorist, his sensitivity to the exact nature of the snow and the glow of the early light on the mountains is ideal for this promotion of the winter joys of the Münster valley on behalf of the Alsace / Lorraine Railway.
