Zurich’s most famous street, the Bahnhofstrasse, was built 150 years ago. Very soon it became established as a shopping street with its splendid buildings, renowned businesses and luxurious brands, offering discerning customers everything their hearts desired. One of the most important gentlemen’s clothing stores was opened by Josef Kaller in 1895. For 116 years, Fein Kaller set high standards in terms of quality, brands, product range and service. It was closed in 2011 in its fourth generation. The posters of the former Fein-Kaller fashion company are rare and exceptionally designed subjects, in particular the unique colour lithographs by Jules de Praetere from the beginning of the last century and 1920s.
Artist: Jules de Praetere
Jules de Praetere studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts and the Ecole Industrielle Genève and ran a hand press for bibliophile prints from 1898 to 1901. From 1901 to 1905 he was a teacher at the School of Applied Arts in Krefeld, at the Ecole du Livre Genève and at the Kunstgewerbeschule Düsseldorf.
