About this poster

The talented Martin Peikert provoked astonishment with his amusing and lively posters for the Swiss tourist resorts. His bold designs made him one of the most popular designers of Swiss travel advertising in the 1940s and 1950s and his posters still appeal to many collectors both in Switzerland and abroad. On his poster promoting winter holidays in Engelberg, Peikert skilfully uses light and shadow and creates a unique composition by framing the snowy Hahnen mountain in the background with the snow-covered gateway of Engelberg Abbey.
