About this poster

It's interesting to compare Morach's dizzying, vertiginous promotion for Davos to the work of other posterists during the same period. Whereas Plinio Colombi or Emil Cardinaux took an Impressionistic approach. Morach translates the Cubo-Futurist style of his fine poster art into his work as a graphic designer. He dramatizes the landscape and cityscape of Davos, opposing both to an idyllic image of Switzerland. Morach was involved with cubism, dada and the Bauhaus movement, eventually arriving at an abstract style. He worked on murals, mosaics, carpet fabric design, glass painting and also taught applied painting from 1918 to 1953. In Switzerland's highly poster-conscious environment, Morach was a truly inspired posterist and one of the best.
