Iwan E. Hugentobler is considered one of the most distinguished horse painters of 20th century Swiss poster art advertising horse racing and events. Hugentobler, who worked for the Swiss racing industry for several years, designed most of the posters in the 1920s, 30s and 40s such as for various show jumping competitions.

Iwan Edwin HUGENTOBLER was born in Degersheim in 1886 and died in Zurich in 1972. He was a painter and graphic designer.
After studying at the vocational school of St. Gallen, he became a designer for a St. Gallen embroidery company and taught at the school from 1915 to 1920.
