About this poster

In the year 1917, Richard Strauss, whom we know nowadays as a famous composer, was the director of the Berlin Opera and in high demand all over Europe as a conductor. That year, he came to Switzerland to stage guest performances of the operas “Don Juan” and “The Magic Flute” by Mozart, his own favourite composer. To advertise these performances, the renowned Swiss poster artist Emil Cardinaux created this beautiful, elegant poster lithograph in fine Art Nouveau style.
